General Position Description

This full time, seasonal position, works as part of a team of 3-4 co-workers to properly paint parking lot lines and markings and/or roadway traffic control lines and markings.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • 1. Clean and prepare pavement for paint, epoxy, tape or thermoplastic as directed
  • 2. Layout and install pavement markings on roadways and parking lots according to specifications and other various requirements
  • 3. Operate various equipment to install pavement markings, including airless paint machines, paint trucks, epoxy trucks, propane torches, tape applicators and various hand tools
  • 4. Follow all safety procedures, as well as, all Company policies as directed
  • 5. Lift, carry, load, and unload construction items including pavement marking supplies, safety cones, paint, stencils, etc.
  • 6. Operate equipment and/or machinery as directed in a safe and efficient manner
  • 7. Perform basic equipment repairs and maintenance
  • 8. Navigate from job site to job site using maps and/or GPS. Drive company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job site
  • 9. Perform traffic control. Includes flagging, short-term lane closures, and slow-moving mobile lane closures
  • 10. Willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or foreman with other duties as required or as deemed necessary by Company management

Essential Physical Qualifications:

  • 1. Ability to remain drug free and submit to pre-employment and random drug screens
  • 2. Physical demands of this job include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, lifting minimum of 50 lbs., carrying, pushing, pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing, and talking.
  • 3. Properly wear personal protective equipment as directed and required
  • 4. Ability to perform assigned duties in all types of weather and temperature extremes
  • 5. Ability to work long hours, [up to 13 hours per day], six days a week during peak season
  • 6. Frequent exposure to paint, epoxy, paint fumes, solvents, chemical fumes and other environmental substances.

  • 8. Environmental exposure to noise, including those associated with highways, construction sites and equipment, airports.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • 1. Willing to work days, nights, weekends, and travel overnight
  • 2. Ability to work diligently while under time restraints
  • 3. Requires explaining facts, interpreting situations, understanding oral and written instructions, and communicating with customers, inspectors, employees, contractors, and the public in English.
  • 4. Good communication skills and professional interactions
  • 5. Requires the ability to handle multiple tasks to fulfill job requirements
  • 6. Interact with co-workers, contractors and general public in a positive and professional manager
  • 7. Must obtain Commercial Driver’s License Permit within 30 days of employment start date and have an acceptable driving record.

Education & Experience:

  • 1. High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2. Previous line marking either in short line or long line applications is desirable
